(ROCKPORT) - State police are investigating the stabbing death of a Spencer County woman.
Jasper State Police Sgt. Chad Dick says Rockport and Spencer County police arrived at the home and found 54-year-old Terri Ann Smithers on the floor with stab wounds, and detained another male who was on scene.
Police took the man in question to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville for treatment of knife wounds and currently consider him a person of interest in the case.
The Spencer County Coroner declared Smithers dead at the scene. Anyone with information on this incident are asked to call State Police Jasper at (800) 742-7475.
