Last updated on Thursday, March 12, 2009

(ELLETTSVILLE) - One man is dead and four others are injured after a head-on wreck near Ellettsville yesterday afternoon.

The Bloomington Herald Times reports 33-year-old William Johnson of Freedom was driving an Asplundh company-owned pickup westbound on IN-46 when, reports say, he fell asleep at the wheel. Johnson crossed the centerline and struck another pickup, driven by Joseph Desmond III of Bloomington.

Three passengers in the Asplundh truck were also injured.

The paper says Desmond and one of the Asplundh passengers were flown by helicopter to Indianapolis hospitals for treatment, the other two passengers were transported to Bloomington Hospital.

The names of the three Asplundh passengers have not yet been released.
