Off-Duty BPD Officer Breaks Up Knife Fight

Last updated on Monday, March 9, 2009

(BEDFORD) - When an off-duty Bedford police officer was at the local Family Video rental store Saturday afternoon, he thought he would be grabbing a movie to take home…and stay off duty.

But that changed when a lady ran in telling someone to call police, there was a fight in the parking lot.

Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News when the officer went outside, he found 21-year-old Michael Gunderson Jr., reportedly swinging a knife at a couple other people.

After a combative incident, 20-year-old Donald Davis of Mitchell had a cut on his arm, and he, along with Gunderson, 19-year-old Sarah Harris of Bedford, and 21-year-old Justin Perry of Mitchell were all in custody on various charges.
