(COLUMBUS) - A pair of teens, at least one of which from Lawrence County, were picked up after a 56-mile chase that started at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Columbus.

Columbus Police Lt. Joe Richardson reports officers were called to the store to a report of two males in a pickup acting suspicious, and when cops ran the plate number that the witness provided them, they found the truck was reported stolen in Lawrence County, and the theft report indicated the truck contained a shotgun.

When police arrived to check out the situation, they arrived just as the truck was leaving, and thus began a 56-mile chase that ended in northwest Jackson County.

Several attempts were made along the way to stop the truck with spike strips, but the driver, avoided them, and the chase didn't end, Richardson says, until the driver intentionally rammed Columbus and Indiana State Police cruisers.

The shotgun was eventually found still in Mitchell.

19-year-old Joshua Davis of Bedford was arrested along with a 17-year-old male.

Davis faces charges of Criminal Recklessness, Possession of Stolen Property and Resisting Law Enforcement (all felonies).

The 17-year-old faces a felony charge of Possession of Stolen Property and a misdemeanor of False Informing.
