(BLOOMINGTON) - The body-barrel murder trial in Bloomington is over, and so is the effort, for now, of defendant Jerry Pelfree to prove his innocence.

After three hours of deliberations, a jury found 52-year-old Jerry Pelfree guilty of the brutal murders of 35-year-old Everett Shaw and 23-year-old Douglas Brown.

Pelfree was convicted of shooting the men in May of 2007, and shoving their bodies into barrels.

The bodies of Shaw and Brown were found by police four months later. Pelfree's attorney suggested throughout the trial that another man did the killing. But the jury didn't buy it.

Pelfree faces up to 65 years in prison on each murder count.

His sentencing date has not been set.
