IU Law School Encouraging Students To Do More Pro Bono Work

Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2009

(BLOOMINGTON) - Recognizing efforts done by other universities and the economic hardship our community faces, the Indiana University Maurer School of Law says they are establishing a public service program which will encourage law students to do more pro bono work.

Starting this coming fall, the Maurer School of Law will encourage students to complete up to 20 hours of work each academic year providing law-related services without taking pay or academic credit.

The effort will not be mandatory, but, according to Law Professor and Associate Dean for Clinical Education Julia Lamber, they hope it will help law students appreciate serving the public.
