Hoosiers Can Apply For 13-Week Unemployment Extension

(UNDATED) - With Lawrence County having more than 14% of its working population unemployed, there’s always a need for good news, and there is, at least, a little.

No, it's not new jobs coming to the area, it's a potential 13-week extension of unemployment benefits.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development tells us those who are eligible for this extension should receive information by mail shortly.

However, there's a sort of catch in that there's stricter requirements for the extension.

Your original 59-weeks of state and federal benefits must expire after March 21st, and you have to apply for the extension in person Wednesdays through Fridays.

Additionally, the DWD says:

Hoosiers must bring the letter informing them of their eligibility, along with proof of identification.

Once enrolled, Hoosiers receiving extended benefits will be subject to much stricter regulations, including:
