Columbus Police Recover Drugs, Weapons During Burglary Call

Last updated on Friday, March 6, 2009

(COLUMBUS) - Drugs and weapons were seized, and two men were arrested after Columbus police responded to a forced entry call on the city’s south east side.

Lt. Joe Richardson of the Columbus Police Department reports officers were called to a burglary call on Columbus' Wint Lane, and when they arrived, found a door forcibly opened. When officers entered, they found marijuana sitting in plain view, and requested a search warrant.

Once the warrant and narcotics officers arrived, additional marijuana was found along with prescription medications, paraphernalia and firearms including what police describe as an AK-47 style assault rifle.

23-year-old Brandi Miller and 38-year-old Robert Smith, both of Columbus, were arrested and charged with dealing marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, and officers expect more arrests to follow.
