(INDIAN HILLS, OH) - A Bedford native, Indiana University benefactor and all around philanthropist has passed away.

Edward Hutton, the former chief of Cincinnati, Ohio-based Chemed Corporation and Omnicare, served his nation by traveling to Germany after World War II to help with reconstruction.

Later in life, Hutton became a significant benefactor of Indiana University, his alma mater, eventually becoming the namesake of the Edward Hutton Honors College on the Bloomington campus.

The Honors College just finished construction this semester. Hutton was born in Bedford in 1919, and passed away Tuesday, leaving behind his wife Kathryn, three children and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
