(UNDATED) - 308 GM employees in Indiana are taking voluntary retirement. Over half of them are from GM’s Fort Wayne truck assembly plant.
The rest are from the GM plants in Indianapolis, Marion and Bedford. Nationwide, 7,500 of GM's hourly workers are taking advantage of retirement, or what the company calls its special attrition program.
Some GM workers who have been laid off may be recalled depending on the volume of the plants involved.
By accepting retirement, hourly GM employees receive a $25,000 vehicle voucher and a one-time cash payment of $20,000. Most of them will leave the company by April 1.
GM has facilities in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Marion and Bedford.
