Last updated on Monday, February 23, 2009

(BLOOMINGTON) - Two major murder cases arrive in court today, one in Monroe County, the other in Brown County.

The Bloomington Herald Times reports jury selection in the Jerry Pelfree case gets underway in Monroe Circuit Court today.

Jerry Pelfree is the main individual accused in the double homicide of 35-year-old Everett Shaw of Goshen and 23-year-old Douglas Brown of Bloomington, both of which were found sealed in late 2007 in steel drums on Pelfree's property.

The other case, the Brown County murder case of 84-year-old Richard "Dude" Voland in Helmsburg, could see 13-year-old Blade Reed bumped up into adult court this afternoon, according to the paper.

Reed and his brother, 17-year-old Bennie Reed, are accused of killing Voland and injuring his 77-year-old wife Mary.

Mary Voland has since recovered physically from her injuries.
