SoS Rokita: Letters Seeking Fees From Businesses Are Fake

Last updated on Thursday, February 12, 2009

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita is warning Hoosier business owners and managers of a scam that is continuing to persist in Indiana.

Rokita says letters have been going to businesses, saying they are from the "Indiana Corporate Compliance Business Division," and look rather official, seeking a $125 or $150 fee for record keeping and the processing of the company's annual minutes. Rokita says all of these letters are fraudulent and should be disregarded.

A similar scam was reported last year as well. However, if you have received one of these letters, and have paid the fraudulent fee, Rokita says to contact his Business Services Division at (317) 232-6576.
