(DETROIT, MI) - More details are developing about what is in the plan for General Motors to survive the economic recession.

Our partners at Fox News report that the Hummer division could be gone next year if it is not purchased, Saturn will face the same axe by as early as 2011 if it also doesn't find a suitor, and Saab may be facing bankruptcy, but their overall goal with the Swedish automaker is to spin it off as its own, independent business unit.

Overall, GM says their plan is to reduce their number of nameplates, or models, by 12 in the next 3 years.

Model eliminations from the dropping of Hummer, Saturn and Saab would account for between 9 and 10 of those, depending on what you count.

And, also, GM announced 47,000 job cuts for this year alone, however, no one at the GM Powertrain plant in Bedford was available to comment on whether any of those will be local.
