Monroe County Deputies Track Down Alleged Burglar Via Doughnut

Last updated on Friday, February 13, 2009

(BLOOMINGTON) - In one of the more amusing stories of late, police in Monroe County were led to a burglary suspect from DNA samples found…on a doughnut.

22-year-old Morgan Brock was arrested and charged with one felony count of burglary from an incident in 2007.

Officials say the DNA sample was collected from a half-eaten doughnut found at the scene of the crime.

Monroe County deputies allege Brock stole among other things, several musical instruments from Woodhaven Christian Church on New Year's Day 2007.

Reports say church officials noticed partially eaten packages of Hostess doughnuts on a sanctuary chair and on the church's kitchen floor.

That's where police found the half-eaten pastry.
