(WASHINGTON, DC) - The economic stimulus bill has passed through both houses of congress to the tune of $789 billion, and our three area congressmen, as well as our state's two senators, are all of a different mind on the issue.
4th District Republican Steve Buyer characterizes the bill as a "massive spending bill," saying it just won't work, and then claims it contains hidden pork, such as $30 million for a mouse. 9th District Democrat Baron Hill said that, through he had some reservations, he is in support of the bill saying, in short, the benefits outweigh the costs.
The vote of the Indiana delegation was almost perfectly split down party lines with one exception, 8th District Democrat Brad Ellsworth.
Ellsworth covers the western half of the WBIW listening area, and voted in opposition to the bill.
Senators Bayh and Lugar both voted with their parties on the measure, as well.
