Lawrence, Monroe And Bloomington Investigating Hit-And-Run, Car Theft, Drugs

Last updated on Monday, February 9, 2009

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County, Monroe County and Bloomington Police are all investigating various aspects of a case that currently has a Bloomington man sitting in Lawrence County jail.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News Landon Jones Jr. of Bloomington is in custody on Lawrence County charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication on drugs.

All this stems from a car accident in Monroe County that allegedly saw Jones in a hit-and-run with a reportedly stolen car, and then got a ride from someone who dropped him off near the Old 37 intersection near Judah.

Monroe County deputies are investigating the hit-and-run complaint, and Bloomington officers are looking into the auto theft.

Craig could not confirm if charges were filed from those two incidents.
