(WASHINGTON, DC) - President Barack Obama signed the digital television delay bill into law yesterday.
The bill says that stations have until June 12th to shut down their analog signals, and switch to all-digital broadcast for over-the-air viewers. As a reminder, the digital Tv transition will only affect those who receive their TV through antennas. Cable and satellite subscribers will be unaffected.
The original deadline was February 17th, which is next Tuesday, and some stations in the area are still planning to switch then.
Those stations include Bloomington-licensed WCLJ-TV, a Trinity Broadcast affiliate on Channel 56.
Indy-licensed WHMB-TV Channel 40, another Christian station, has reportedly already switched.
They will be joined by Louisville CW affiliate WBKI-TV Channel 34.
All other Indy, Louisville, Terre Haute and Evansville stations will continue analog broadcasting after February 17th.
