(BEDFORD) - The City of Bedford and the rest of northern Lawrence County seem to be the epicenter for this morning's snow problems.

As of 10:30 this morning, Mitchell police were reporting no accidents or slide offs, Bloomington police were showing less than a dozen combined, although they had to shut down an area around 5th and Adams temporarily due to overly icy conditions, and State Police Bloomington, which covers Lawrence, Greene, Monroe, Owen and Brown Counties, said they serviced around 10 calls, all but one in Greene, Monroe and Lawrence Counties.

However, Bedford and Lawrence County police were still dealing with issues. Bedford Assistant Chief Joe DeWees told WBIW News they had to deal with around 5 or 6 accidents and a number of slide-offs, and most of that activity was on IN-58 between the radio studios here, and the city limits to the east.

Lawrence County dispatch was still too busy at 10:30 to report any numbers, and Sheriff Sam Craig told WBIW News even he hadn't been able to get an update since about an hour before.

However, at his last update, he knew of around 9 slide offs, a handful of accidents including more than one multi-vehicle incident at IN-37 and the Avoca turnoff, and said they had one jack knifed semi on Patton Hill-Eureka Road.

The most severe problems, however, seem to have been cleared up by late morning.
