Slippery Roads Send Car Off Pavement, Passenger To Hospital

Last updated on Wednesday, January 7, 2009

(BEDFORD) - Slippery conditions caused one accident on the south side of Bedford yesterday afternoon that sent one passenger to the hospital.

Bedford police reports say 22-year-old Krista George of Bedford was heading north on I Street when her wheels slipped on the road near 26th Street. George's compact Dodge ran into a Duke Energy pole in a yard near the road and came to a rest in the next yard.

Her front seat passenger, 23-year-old Christian Turner of Bedford, was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital by ambulance for a complaint of back pain. Her back seat passenger, 19-year-old Eric Phillips, complained of pain to his shoulder, but was not hospitalized.

George was cited for driving too fast to avoid a collision.
