Police Allege Bedford Man Stole Meds From Coworker

Last updated on Thursday, January 15, 2009

(BEDFORD) - City police took a Bedford man into custody alleging he was stealing medication from a coworker.

Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News officials at Stone City Products in Bedford complained that they were having things turn up missing from a toolbox in the company's tool room back in September.

As part of the investigation, surveillance was set up and reportedly revealed 32-year-old Ryan Ward of Bedford was stealing pills from a coworker. The case was referred to the Lawrence County prosecutor in September and a warrant was issued yesterday for Ward, and he was picked up shortly before 1:00pm in the afternoon.

Ward allegedly took Zanaflex pills which, according to online medical database WebMD, is a muscle relaxant commonly used to relieve muscle spasms in multiple sclerosis patients.
