Passerby Helps Heltonville Teen Escape Wrecked Car

Last updated on Thursday, January 8, 2009

(BEDFORD) - A Heltonville teenager has a passerby to thank for helping get her out of her wrecked vehicle yesterday morning.

Lawrence County police report say 18-year-old Casey Gillespie was heading west on US-50 near Brown Station Road when her car hit a patch of ice, lost control, spun around, and hit the ditch on the opposite side of the road backwards, causing the vehicle to turn onto its driver's side trapping Gillespie inside.

The report says a passerby, who was not identified, came up and helped Gillespie out of her vehicle by breaking out a rear window.

Gillespie was able to walk away from the accident without injury.
