Police Make Drug Bust Out Of Info From Oolitic

Last updated on Friday, December 12, 2008

(OOLITIC) - Almost every police department available assisted in a major drug bust in the Town of Oolitic yesterday.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News officers from the Oolitic Town Marshall, Bedford Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police conducted an investigation into drugs being sold near a school in Oolitic.

Craig says the Town Marshall was given information indicating a person was allegedly selling pills near the school along Hoosier Avenue, and the investigation resulting in officers monitoring a drug transaction.

Police served a warrant on 65-year-old William Kast of Springville and reportedly found him in possession of a stolen firearm, four switchblade knives, and Oxycontin, a Schedule II substance.

Kast was taken to the Lawrence County jail on an A-Felony charge of dealing a Schedule II substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

Craig was unclear as to whether charges were already filed against Kast for the weapons or the possession of the drugs.
