(UNDATED) - National unemployment numbers are out, and, more notably, down. Way down.
Reports from the US Department of Labor in Washington say more than 533,000 people lost their jobs...in the month of November alone.
That doesn't include farm jobs, either.
That's the largest one-month job loss since December of 1974. That puts the national unemployment rate up to 6.7%, the highest number in that column since 1993. And, to add salt to the wound, revised numbers from September and October discovered that 200,000 more people than originally reported lost their jobs in those reports.
That puts this report's bad news number at almost 750,000.
State and local numbers aren't out yet, but if you distribute that number out proportionally across the states, that could mean around 15,000 jobs lost in Indiana, which, to put that in perspective, is roughly 2,000 more than we actually lost in October.
However, to find some positive news here, CNBC.com speculates that November's catastrophic jobs numbers could signal we've hit bottom, and can begin to recover now.
