IU: More Women Getting College Degrees Than Men

Last updated on Monday, December 1, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - A new report released from Indiana University says more women than men are earning college degrees.

Researchers from IU's Business Research Center compiled data from the U.S. Census Bureau. It showed more women under 45 have gotten bachelor's degrees or higher when compared to men.

The data held true on both the state and national level. In the 35 to 44 age group, nearly 26% of Hoosier women have bachelor's degrees or higher as opposed to just 22.8% of men.

Researchers haven't determined why the percentage of men has stagnated.
