Five Picked Off In Bedford Meth Lab Bust

(BEDFORD) - Police have 5 people in custody after Bedford officers happened upon a meth lab during a welfare check.

In a release put out by Assistant Chief of Police Dan Kirk, officers served a welfare check at the Sanders Lane home of 30-year-old Natalie Smith, and noticed a strong chemical odor coming from the garage.

After that, uniformed officers from Bedford and Lawrence County police along with the State Police Clandestine Lab Team arrived to investigate, and found a working meth lab in the garage, and, as a result, made 5 arrests.

Smith, 29-year-old Steven Sykes, 27-year-old Kristina Fox, 32-year-old Toby Pace and 28-year-old Bryan Crane were all arrested on Class A felony charges of manufacturing meth within 1,000 feet of a church youth program, and of possessing more than 3 grams of methamphetamine.

Additional felony and misdemeanor charges are also pending against all individuals.
