BPD Officers Deploy Tasers Twice Saturday Afternoon

Last updated on Monday, December 22, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Bedford police had a busy time Saturday afternoon after two suspects allegedly battered officers in their attempts at freedom in two separate incidents just minutes apart.

At 2:06pm Saturday, police were called to an apartment complex on Riley Avenue where, they allege, 18-year-old Dustin Ross of Bedford was trying to break into an apartment.

Police chased Ross down and caught him, and brought him back to the station for processing. However, when officers were bringing Ross from the station to the jail, Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News Ross allegedly knocked one officer over, and tried to take off running.

A Taser was unsuccessfully deployed, one of the darts didn't stick, but police caught him anyway. Then, at 2:11pm, an off duty officer recognized 21-year-old Jordan Wolfe at the Bedford Wal-Mart who was wanted on a Bedford warrant.

Another chase and fight reportedly ensued when officers tried to bring him in, and this time, the Taser worked. Parsley says Wolfe "became compliant" when the electric device was engaged.

Both were taken to the Lawrence County jail on a laundry list of charges.
