Police Looking For Racist-Message Vandals In Loogootee

Last updated on Monday, November 24, 2008

(LOOGOOTEE) - Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down vandals that rearranged letters on a company’s sign in Loogootee to include a racial slur.

State Police Sgt. Chad Dick says back in early June, vandals got to the sign of Sewell Chiropractic in Loogootee, and rearranged the letters from saying "Congratulations Graduates" to "Congratulations...[something else that's not fit for publishing]."

To add insult to insult, the vandals then immediately took a picture with a camera-equipped cell phone and started sending it around via picture messages.

Sgt. Dick reports that, as a result, Sewell Chiropractic has been receiving threats and a loss of business as a result of this prank, which is one reason the practice reported it to police.

State police ask anyone with information to call them at (800) 742-7475.
