Incumbent Upset In School Board Squeaker

Last updated on Wednesday, November 5, 2008

(BEDFORD) - The race for North Lawrence Community School Board is the home of our only real upset in Lawrence County.

In the Pick-3 race, only two incumbents made it through. School board President and Bedford Fire Chief Scott Gillespie lead the vote totals with 5,356, followed by Jeff Lambrecht with 4,959.

However, incumbent Tom Harrell fell 99 votes behind challenger Trisha O'Rourke, which puts Harrell out and O'Rourke in.

However, it should be noted, all these results are unofficial, and with only 99 votes separating the two, there could be a tightening and maybe even a swap as provisional ballots and certified results come in.

However, that is speculative.

Either way, there is still a 10-day period for those who cast provisional ballots to make their challenges to be heard.
