(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man is in jail after leading police in a high-speed chase that started near Oolitic, and wound up with four spiked tires in Bloomington.

State Police Bloomington say they clocked a speeding vehicle heading south on IN-37 near Washboard Road.

The car made a U-turn near The Woods housing addition and then headed back north with a state police squad car with full lights and sirens in pursuit. The car continued heading north into Bloomington where police deployed "stop sticks," or spiked strips made to blow out tires, at Zikes Road.

The car kept going onto Walnut Street and that's when police learned the vehicle was stolen. Police got him with a second set of stop sticks near Walnut and Pinewood Drive, and the car kept going on its metal rims, but eventually the pursuit ended at Rogers and Country Club.

The driver, 23-year-old Joshua North of Bloomington, was arrested and charged with felony resisting arrest and possession of stolen property, and lesser charges of drunk driving and driving while suspended.

North was taken to Monroe County jail.
