Teens Face Serious Charges In Turkey Farm Fire, Fight

Last updated on Wednesday, October 15, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford teenagers are facing some serious charges after a fire and a scuffle at the controversial Coxton Road turkey farm.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil tells WBIW News two 16-year-old males were arrested, though the strange nature of the incidents and the investigation into them are preventing much in the way of details from being released.

Monday morning, fire crews were called to a fire at one of the unoccupied barns near the turkey farm which, Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News was owned by the father of the farm's owner.

Crews put out the fire, but victims requested an out-of-county investigator so state police were brought in.

Later, Monday afternoon, police were called back out for a physical altercation.

So far, we know one of the 16-year-olds is preliminarily charged with arson, the other with battery causing serious bodily injury.
