Skillman Talks About Economy To Growth Council

Last updated on Wednesday, October 22, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Yesterday evenig, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman spoke to a gathering of Lawrence County business leaders at a members-only event of the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council.

Earlier yesterday afternoon, WBIW News was able to catch up with the Bedford native and see what she would be talking about.

"We want to provide some words of hope and comfort to [Lawrence County businesses] about the state's overall economy and how we're fairing at this time of uncertainty at the national level," Skillman said.

And when it comes to both Indiana's and America's economic woes, Skillman says we all need to be a part of our own economic turnaround at all levels.

"This is an all-hands-on-deck approach at the local level, at the county level, at the regional level, at the state level, continuing to create as much economic opportunity as possible," she said. She went on to describe the effort as like, "being on a treadmill and you can't get off."

Skillman is expected at an event in Evansville today.
