(BEDFORD) - A police investigation has led to the arrest of a woman accused of taking a prescription pad from her former medical employer and writing herself scripts for controlled drugs.

Bedford Assistant Chief Dan Kirk tells WBIW News 44-year-old Kimberly Blackwell allegedly wrote prescriptions on a pad she had taken from a doctor she worked for a few months earlier this year, saying the doctor allowed her to do so.

When police contacted the doctor, however, he said he did no such thing.

Then, yesterday afternoon, Blackwell tried to pick up an order of Vicodin at the K-Mart pharmacy, and was then picked up by police.

Blackwell is charged with theft, forgery and attempting to possess a controlled substance by fraud.
