Health Commissioner Pleased With Schools' Progress

Last updated on Friday, October 17, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana State Health Commissioner felt encouraged to see some Indiana school corporations taking the notion of creating healthier children very seriously.

Several business, community, health and education leaders met in the latest InShape Indiana Health Summit in Bloomington this week.

Dr. Judy Monroe says two school corporations, Batesville and Evansville-Vanderburgh, gave excellent examples of how they are working within the school district and with outside community partners to create healthier choices and promote healthy living among students and staff.

Monroe says schools have to be willing to change their policies to support healthy choices and be creative in providing those choices.
