(INDIANAPOLIS) - The State of Indiana is setting up disaster recovery offices throughout parts of the WBIW listening area, as a result of FEMA granting disaster status to Lawrence and other nearby counties.
Governor Mitch Daniels has asked Secretary of Agriculture Edward Schafer to set up emergency food stamp distribution in the disaster counties, although approval has not yet been given for that request yet.
However, once approval is made for that request, they will be available at area offices.
Here in Lawrence County, an office is setting up at the Lawrence County Division of Family Resources at 918 16th Street.
Offices are also setting up in Shoals, Seymour and Marengo.
However, disaster assistance nor FEMA agents will be available at these offices. They are just for food stamp distribution.
