(KALAMAZOO, MI) - A former Bloomington resident has been sentenced after he pled guilty to an act of reputed eco-terrorism at Michigan State University.
The Associated Press reports 33-year-old Frank Ambrose told federal Chief Judge Paul Maloney of the US District Court that he was sorry for what he did, and Maloney sentenced him to 9 years in prison, a lifetime of supervisory release afterwards, and ordered him to pay $3.7 million in restitution.
Ambrose was accused of starting a fire and explosion at the MSU Agriculture Hall that caused more than $1 million dollars in damage on New Years Eve 1999.
Ambrose also took responsibility for 11 other acts between 1999 and 2003, 6 of which were in Monroe County.
