Two Injured In Truck Accident At Avoca Light

Last updated on Tuesday, September 16, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Two Bedfordites were sent to the hospital yesterday afternoon after being rear-ended by a large commercial truck at the IN-37/Avoca light.

Lawrence County Sheriffs reports say 37-year-old Scott Whaley of Martinsville was headed north on IN-37 when he was distracted by another car, and ended up rear-ending 65-year-old Glenn and 63-year-old Pamela Bell of Bedford.

The Bells were stopped facing northbound on IN-37 at the Avoca light. Reports say the Bells were taken to a local emergency room for back pain.

Whaley was cited for equipment violations on his truck, however, the state police commercial vehicle officer's report says he didn't thin the failures contributed to the accident.
