Strange Bedfellows: Health Screenings And Soul Food

Last updated on Thursday, September 18, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - In what could be one of the more interesting juxtapositions seen in area festivals, the City of Bloomington will be conducting community health screenings…at their annual Soul Food Festival.

The festival, which is at Karst Farm Park in Bloomington this coming Saturday, runs from 11:00am until 4:00pm, and the health screenings will go from noon until 3:00pm.

The strange combination will combine tests on vision, blood pressure, blood sugar, cancer and others, with soul food which, really, isn't exactly known for being healthy, usually consisting of battered, pan fried dishes and extra-buttery biscuits and breads.
