(UNDATED) - Indiana conservation officers are on standby for hurricane assistance as Gustav bores its way through Louisiana and Northeast Texas.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says 20 officers along with necessary equipment are readying to deploy to the Gulf Coast which, though not as heavily damaged as it was in 2005 under Hurricane Katrina, is still beaten up pretty badly.
To add insult to injury, Hanna, which was a tropical storm up until yesterday, has just been upgraded to a hurricane and now Tropical Storm Ike is developing in the Atlantic Ocean and is seeming to move laterally which, possibly, could put it into the Gulf of Mexico.
However, Hanna looks like it will impact the Atlantic coast of Florida and travel up the coast through the Carolinas.
The Hoosier conservation officers will add to the more than 200 Hoosiers already on scene on the coast.
