Conservation Board To Support Cover Crops In Lawrence County

(BEDFORD) - The Indiana Soil Conservation Board has approved assistance for local soil and water conservation districts to help area farmers who suffered losses in areas that were declared federal disaster areas early this summer, including Lawrence County.

The Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District says they will be using their funding to for planting cover crops like cereal rye, oats and winter wheat to protect against erosion.

The local office will be accepting applications for assistance, which will total $20 per acre with an 80 acre cap. For more information, call them at (812) 279-8117 x3.
