Bedford Farmer Says "Crop Circles" Aren't All They Appear To Be

Last updated on Monday, September 15, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County farmer John Wilcox is not excited by what some people have called “crop circles” that appeared in one of his fields on Friday.

The Bedford Police Department got several calls from people reporting the odd shapes. But Wilcox says the field isn't planted with corn or soybeans.

It's sudangrass, which is a soft, thick hay that's prone to bending easily.

He says it tends to do that in high wind and heavy rain, but bounces back when weather conditions improve.
