(INDIANAPOLIS) - Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman will be handing out 79 Hoosier Homestead Awards today, and three of them will be landing in the immediate WBIW listening area.

The Hoosier Homestead Award recognizes families that have owned the same farm for more than 100 consecutive years, with the farm consisting of more than 20 acres or producing more than $1,000 worth of agricultural products per year.

Area winners include the Ewbanks farm in Orange County, which was founded in 1904, and the Spurgeon and Earl Batt farms in Washington County, founded in 1864 and 1897 respectively.

Also, two winners in nearby Morgan and Owen Counties are celebrating their sesquicentennial. The Bain farm in Morgan County was founded in 1839, and the Slough farm in Owen County in 1837.
