Mitchell Man Walks Away From Wreck With Power Lines On Car

Last updated on Monday, August 18, 2008

(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell man had a bit of a run in with some power lines.

Lawrence County police reports say 25-year-old Jeremy Lewis of Mitchell was driving along Sandpit Road near Complex Drive when an oncoming vehicle caused him to duck right, and he ran off the road and into a utility pole.

Lewis wasn't injured, but that wasn't the end of the ordeal.

Reports say the pole collapsed to the ground, causing power, telephone and cable TV lines to all land on top of Lewis' Toyota.

A passerby got out to help and told Lewis to stay in the vehicle since the power lines were right on top. Emergency crews were able to evacuate Lewis safely from the vehicle, still with no injuries.

No citations were issued.
