Kids Visit Columbus City Hall, Ask To Keep Daycare Open

Last updated on Friday, August 1, 2008

(COLUMBUS) - Nancy’s Nook is one of Columbus’ largest daycare facilities. They’re being forced to close today since the building they were housed in was damaged by the floods.

Nancy's Nook Co-Director Connie Barkdull says the founder wants to retire and doesn't want to try and re-build.

Several kids went to Columbus City Hall Thursday to ask Community Development Director Jim Clouse to help keep the center open. Clouse says the city has done all it can and won't get involved with private business. He says he was impressed that the kids came to city hall to talk with him.

Both Clouse and Barkdull say if nothing else -- it was great civics lesson for the kids.
