(BEDFORD) - It was a hot time in the ol’ jail last night.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News two inmates took some papers and a blanket and set them on fire sometime after 7:00pm last night.
Craig says department officials are still investigating just how the fire was ignited in the first place, but says, at least, it wasn't a major fire.
Craig says jail guards were able to put it out with fire extinguishers before the fire department arrived, and when firefighters did get there, they set fans to help ventilate the smoke.
Craig says nobody was injured but a few inmates had to be relocated within the facility.
