Drug Recovery Turnout Low, Sheriff Wants To Expand Program

Last updated on Monday, August 11, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig is a little disappointed in the turnout of Saturday’s prescription drug recovery effort, but says it’s still a project he wants to expand.

Craig tells WBIW News only 17 people turned in leftover or expired prescription drugs, which have become a darling of recreational drug users.

However, a couple of those recoveries were relatively large.

Craig says he would like to see a more regular or expanded effort, but says he still has a lot of planning to do.

Craig definitely says, however, he wants to do another recovery effort before the end of the year.
