World War II Submachine Gun Found With Pot Plants

Last updated on Monday, July 28, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police happened upon a large cache of drugs and a small arsenal, including a submachine gun, when they served at search warrant on a Curry Pike home.

Bloomington police say they served a warrant on the home of 28-year-old Krin Patrick Gallagher who was suspected of growing marijuana, and when Gallagher left, police pulled him over and took him into custody because they suspected he'd be armed.

Police say when they entered the home, they were greeted by a pair of angry pit bulls, who had to be subdued by pepper spray, and when they were waiting for Animal Control, 34-year-old Samuel Moore pulled up, who was also suspected of unrelated drug dealing.

Police say they found 38 grams of coke on Moore as well as about $6,000 in cash. In Gallagher's home, they found the pot plants they were looking for as well as an AR-15 tactical rifle, a handgun and a British Sten, which is a World War II era submachine gun.

Moore was lodged in Monroe County jail for possession of coke with intent to deal among other charges.

Gallagher faces felonies of possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and 3 counts of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
