Toddler Found Wandering Alone In Cemetery

Last updated on Wednesday, July 30, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County deputies found a child wandering alone in the road by Arlington Heights Cemetery Monday.

Deputies were called to the area around 7:10 Monday morning where they found a 2-year-old child and took it in to safety, and eventually turned it over to Department of Child Services caseworkers.

When officers found out where the child lived, they approached the home and found the front door wide open, the boy's mother inside reportedly intoxicated, as well as another female adult and another small child.

The mother claimed one of the two men that also live at the home let the boy out to get her in trouble.

DCS caseworkers removed both kids from the home and are investigating the incident, especially as all the adults in the home have open cases with DCS currently.
