Home Caretaker Allegedly Takes Patient's Pills

Last updated on Thursday, July 24, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington caretaker was arrested for allegedly stealing medication from a person in his care.

Monroe County deputies were called to a home on Burch Road after a home health care administrator told them a patient complained of medication missing after a therapy session at which 31-year-old Jason Vandeventer was at.

When officers interviewed Vandeventer, he reportedly admitted to taking the meds, being Lortab, and consuming an unknown quantity of them that evening.

Vandeventer was then taken to Monroe County jail on felony charges of theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Lortab is a hydrocodone pain killer often taken illegally for recreational purposes.
