Bedford Police Recover Cache Of Pot On Domestic Dispute Call

Last updated on Friday, July 11, 2008

(BEDFORD) - In another episode of “Things Not to do When You Have a Large Amount of Pot in the House,” Bedford police say they were called to a home about a domestic dispute and ended up finding almost a pound of dope.

Bedford Police Assistant Chief Dan Kirk tells WBIW News officers were called to a home on the 1000 block of O Street to a domestic dispute call and when they got there, the female involved said she didn't want to file battery charges, but she did just so happen to know where her alleged assailant, 26-year-old Howard Clay Timken, was hiding about ¾ of a pound of marijuana.

After confronting Timken about this, he said he had smoked a joint earlier, but denied any such large cache.

However, the woman gave officers permission to search the home, and they turned up a Crown Royal bag in the garage with a decent amount of pot.

Overall, more than 100 grams was recovered, and so was Timken, who was then lodged in the Lawrence County jail on a felony possession charge.
