(SEYMOUR) - A plane went down injuring the pilot yesterday in Jackson County.
The Indiana State Police Seymour District reports a single-engine bi-plane went down just south of Seymour yesterday morning around 9:00am in a field near IN-11 and CR300 North.
Police say the pilot, 57-year-old Phillip Krueger of Freetown took off from the Seymour Airport for a test flight about a half hour beforehand in an attempt to achieve 40 hours of safe flight time to prove his experimental aircraft was airworthy.
However, during the flight, the engine lost power causing Krueger to make an emergency landing and, when he did, his landing gear dug into the ground spinning the rest of the plane on its belly before coming to a stop.
Krueger only suffered injuries to his face and head and the FAA is currently investigating the incident.
